From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for creating this course and helping women reach their goals. I don’t use this term lightly, but this has been life-changing for me."
Meet Bonnie

šFirst Backpacking Trip After Completing the Program: Twin Lakes on Mt Hood (Oregon)
"It has been so great to learn everything in one place instead of figuring out what classes I needed to take and where, and I could do it in my spare time, and I have kids, and I have zero extra time. But I could do this class whenever I wanted.”
Meet Tiffany
Backpacking Badass® Student Alumni
šFirst Backpacking Trip After Completing the Program: The Boulder Canyon Trail (Arizona)
"Learning how to use those apps offline, how to navigate, and ensuring that I download all trails prior to leaving has not only saved our group many times but I have been able to help others on the trail too! I'm so impressed with myself and where I am today. I'm very thankful for the knowledge that you share and I have NO regrets paying $600 for your program. I knew from the beginning that would be money well spent. I feel extremely prepared to be in the wilderness."

Meet Sheila

šFirst Backpacking Trip After Completing the Program: The Trans-Catalina Trail (California)
"First I am so glad that I came across your blog and backpacking course on Facebook. Your "One Day or Day One" motto still resonates with me now. I've always loved the idea of backpacking and hiking but never felt that I could for various reasons. In watching your intro video I realized that it was really my own head that was holding me back."

MeetĀ Jeanna

"If you're on the fence, just take the leap. It really is a program that can address everything."
MeetĀ Lauren
Backpacking BadassĀ® Student Alumni
"I was worried that I would make the investment in this program and then not do anything with it...Iām grateful that that wasnāt the case because this program is set up in a way to get you to take action and really sets you up for learning AND using the information."
"If I were to suggest this program to a friend, I would tell them that itās worth it. Especially if they donāt have anyone to teach them these skills, or they wanted to get started and didnāt have anyone to do it with, I think itās the best way to do it for yourself and learn for yourself instead of waiting for someone to invite you along or show you how."
MeetĀ Stacey

"The community I felt was such a big aspect and to know that for a lifetime I have access to all of these people...now I have all these role models!"

MeetĀ Dawn
Backpacking BadassĀ® Student Alumni
Joining in all the way from the UK, Dawn was inspired by the book & movie Wild to get outside and try hiking and backpacking. She found herself struggling to find a community toĀ support her dreams and goals until she found the Backpacking Badass program.
Dawnās biggest fear is getting lost, but as she dove deep into the course, she learned navigation skills, and bought a GPS, making her feel much more confident and ready to head out on her
own.Ā
Meet Kristi

Kristi began the program with a lofty goal in mind ā to backpack the Grand Canyon from rim to rim with her wife.

MeetĀ Janelle
Backpacking BadassĀ® Student Alumni

MeetĀ Sherry
Backpacking BadassĀ® Student Alumni
"The mindset piece was big for me. I mean I wasnāt afraid to go outside or be in a group, but it was the mindset of being out there by myself that was kind of holding me back, and your module on mindset really helped because thatās what it was for me."
MeetĀ Christine

šFirst Backpacking Trip After Completing the Program: Crystal Cove State ParkĀ (California)

"I had never been backpacking before this course, I used to do a lot outdoors, camping, hiking, biking, kayaking... etc. but never backpacking so this was totally new for me, and it is kind of a different beast. MeetĀ Melani
Backpacking BadassĀ® Student Alumni
āOne of my favorite parts of the program was the training that resonated with me. Iām very active and training is a really big thing for me. Iāve been really intimidated to do the JMT... the physical and mental training... your training pieces that talk about the common excuses we can make helped me feel excited to embark on this.ā
MeetĀ Kristen
Backpacking BadassĀ® Student Alumni
"I would just say honestly, if anyone is having any doubts about signing up for this program due to a lack of self-confidence like, āIs this the right time in my life or am I capable of doing this?ā I would 100% say that you can come into this at any skill level and you will definitely get a lot of out it. And itās never a bad time to go after the dreams that you want to go after. So donāt doubt yourself, find a good group of women (weāre cool, weāll be in the FB group to support people), and youāll have Allison which is a great, great resource."
MeetĀ Liz

"I joined the program because I have always been a āfollowerā when it comes to hiking and backpacking, and I wanted to learn how to do it myself!"
Meet Gleici

"My real motivation to join the group was to learn more and learn how to do things by myself and not having to depend on anyone else. I achieved what I planned to do because this summer Iāve gone on 3 backpacking trips...one of them totally solo and the others I was leading the groups!"
Meet Cindy

"I feel more confident now to be a leader outside, I have new skillset to better time manage, to better train, to know what the right or more current gear is."
"Before joining this program I found that I would just go along with the flow but I noticed I was only āfollowingā and I really, really I want too be in a place where Iām picking some of the trails,Ā find the permits, and Iām guiding my friends to make sure theyāve done the things they need."
MeetĀ Heather
Backpacking BadassĀ® Student Alumni
"I had zero experience...and this program, Become and Outdoor Backpacking Badass, covered everything I needed to know. This program was absolutely amazing. It taught me everything IĀ needed to know to have a successful trip, and not just a successful trip, but I decided that my trip was going to be with my family: myself, my husband, my 12 year old daughter, and my 10 year old son. Everything that Allison taught was everything I needed to do to prepare myself, and my kids for this trip. We ended up doing a 4-day backpacking trip in West Virginia that wasĀ 23 miles, and it was amazing!"

MeetĀ Lisa

šFirst Backpacking Trip After Completing the Program: Rideau Trail - Ontario, Canada
"The most beneficial thing I learned was how to set up a training program to get your body ready. It wasn't really something IĀ had ever thought about and I was gonna do that last. I started training a lot sooner and in doing that IĀ was able to reap the benefits of havingĀ like 3 months of preparation. Really made a big difference on carryingĀ a backpack!"
"IĀ noticed [after my solo backpacking trip] that for the first time in my entire life - and I'mĀ not exaggerating, I'mĀ 39 years old - IĀ feel confident within myself."

Meet Shauna
Backpacking BadassĀ® Student Alumni
šFirst Backpacking Trip After Completing the Program: Ā South Coast Trail, Olympic National Forest (Washington)
"My confidence has changed a lot. I went from thinking, 'oh yeah I think I can do this, I think I can take my kid - I've gone a couple times, I know what I'm doing.' To taking the course and not having any question of if I can do it or not.
And knowing how to use the things, and then teaching my kid. he wanted to know all the whys and hows so the course teaching me helped me teach him. And when you're able to teach someone else you know you've actually learned it ,and you know it. So my confidence was totally different, so much better."
MeetĀ Kari
Backpacking BadassĀ® Student Alumni
šFirst Backpacking Trip After Completing the Program: Emerald Bay to Meeks Bay (California)
"My confidence really gained during training. One of the first modules you go through is having your training plan. To get my weekly mileage with my weighted pack on really gave me the confidence that I would be able to complete my trip and finish my goals. And I did!"
"I would suggest the program to my friends for learning how to be not only a contributor but also self sufficient and to learn how to trust yourself on the trail. I've found that the confidence to speak up, the confidence to not question myself and defer to other people or the Google machine, has really carried over into other areas of life too."
MeetĀ Cindie
Backpacking BadassĀ® Student Alumni
šFirst Backpacking Trip After Completing the Program: Isle RoyaleĀ (Michigan)
"I'm definitely not afraid to go out and go for it now. I think I proved to myself that I'm stronger than I gave myself credit for and that I have more skills that I gave myself credit for. I never really liked to go places by myself before, so that was a big thing for me to go off by myself on a big adventure."
"I like the fact that I can go back and reference the class. Two years from now if I feel like I need a refresher on something I can go back and redo it, re-read stuff, look at the tech vault, etc. There were just a lot of resources within the program that were really helpful."

"I really enjoyed connecting with other women who were looking for adventure and who weren't looking to be boxed in. [Women who] are willing to say, 'I'm gonna push myself to limits and try something our of my comfort zone. I'm doing this because I want to and that's okay. We're all gonna be successful together.' "
"There is wisdom in this program. There is value in it's community, legit training, and ability to increase confidence."
